Reminder: Time Out Challenge #81
Hello, hello! Hope you had a great Easter break and it is safe and warm where you are. It has been weeks and weeks of rain (I call them showers of blessing) here in New Zealand. Can’t believe winter is only 6 weeks away!
Thank goodness for the inspiration photo over at Time Out that reminds me of a good spring day – full of joy and life! So here’s my second card motivated by the photo. Remember not to miss the closing date – you have exactly one week before you miss a chance to win prizes from STAMPlorations!
To prepare the background, I dyed some embossing paste with Picked Raspberry distress ink. Yes, you can create embossing paste in any colour you like. First, you would need a smooth surface – I made my own by laminating a piece of copy paper. Easy peasy. Press your ink pad gently on the surface to transfer the ink, and mix the embossing paste with the ink using a palette knife. Continue adding ink to build up the pigment until you achieve the colour you desire, or simply add more embossing paste to lighten it.
To create an ombré effect, I created three mixtures of different shades of pink and simply spread them across a DIY number stencil on a grey cardstock. I talked about using negative die-cut as stencils in this post. For this stencil, I used a die from Avery Elle listed below.
The swarm of butterflies image was created on ScanNCut canvas, and cut on a piece of vellum. The die-cuts were then popped up on the negative with little dots of liquid glue right in the centre, with their wings folded upwards for extra dimensions. I then heat embossed a sentiment on a piece of black card stock, and adhered both ends to the back of the card. This is one of my favourite sentiment sets as they are wonderful for any occasion and the fonts are simply gorgeous! The card is then adhered to a maroon card base and there you have it – a warm fuzzy card great for making someone’s day special.
Thanks for dropping by. Hope you find inspiration here today and happy crafting!
Hugs,

This is one stunning card Michelle, you picked out so much from the photo converting it into the tiny details in your card. I love how you got all this in but still it looks CAS. The paste was a great idea and the soft vellum allows us to see all this. I am so pleased you joined us at Time Out as our GD

What a delightful card, full of interest and fabulous detail. It certainly depicts spring with all those butterflies but there’s perhaps a little too much detail for a Clean and Simple challenge. At Less is More we do like to see cards that are simple, quick and easy to recreate. Thanks for sharing this beauty with us and hope you’ll play along again sometime. Sarah

What a beautiful card! That cloud of butterflies is gorgeous. Sarah’s mentioned that we’re a CAS challenge, so we need minimal layers/detailing for cards to be eligible, but I’m so glad you shared this beauty with us as it’s a total stunner! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Less is More 🙂
