Guest Design: Time Out Challenge #81

Hello, hello!

Lately I have been hit by the crafting rut. Whenever that happens, I find challenge blogs very helpful. Just the right kind of kick up the backside, you know what I mean? Today, I have the honour of guest designing for one of them over at Time Out. Challenge #81 is part of their Home Sweet Home Challenges, inspired by the interior design photo below.

I love the colour scheme and the whole free flowy, loosey goosey feeling of the photo and wanted to recreate it with Spring Flowers by Simon Says Stamp. I built up an emboss resist background by white heat embossing the floral images and then water coloured it with Ranger distress inks ‘cos hey, nothing says loosey goosey more than watercolour! The colours used were Pink Raspberry, Candied Apple and Seedless Preserves. To add dimension, I carefully traced the outlines with Copic markers in Warm Grey 5 and 7.

On another piece of Neenah card panel, I die-cut twice using the landscape die by Mama Elephant at different angles, allowing the flowers to peek through from beneath. I did some simple masking and partial stamping with a sentiment from My Favorite Things’ Santa’s Elves to say “You’re A Friend Like No One Else”. For some subtle details, I die-cut that sentiment panel using the number one die from Avery Elle’s Count On It and adhered some adorable butterfly die-cuts.

I used some foam tapes to pop up the white panels on the flowers, and finished off the card with some sparkling clear sequins by Pretty Pink Posh. I just love the look of the vibrant colours through the sequins.

Many thanks to the wonderful people at Time Out for having me over today. Hope you find today’s card inspiring and don’t forget to take part in the challenge for a chance to win prizes! Thank you for stopping by and see you soon!
