Sun, Sea and Dragons
Hello, hello! Winter is slowly creeping in on this side of the world so when I heard about My Favorite Things’ summer camp, I knew I had to be there! It has been REAL fun camping (sans bugs) with new friends while crafting so hurry over before June 23rd!
I created this out-of-my-element card for Day 1 although I totally missed Day 2 after getting caught trying to sneak out the night before (the burgers were calling my name!)… I will get working on the backlog but let us first continue on to Day 3 where the spotlight is on watercolour.
I first stamped my images from Hot Stuff and Drummer Boy on a piece of watercolour paper and coloured them in with watered down distress inks. You can find the list of colours used at the bottom of the post. The clouds were from Love Makes a Home set which I gently blended in some Tumbled Glass towards the bottom. To create the waves, I squished the Chipped Sapphire mini ink pad directly and generously onto a piece of white card stock and then ran it through my die-cutting machine with the Border Waves die. I added some details to the dragons, the trees and the sand with Copic markers.
I traced a semi-circle using pencil on a piece of 5 1/2″ by 4 1/4″ white card stock and created an opening on my card front. I then mounted the coloured image on the back with foam tapes and adhered the waves to its bottom. To ground the images, I added some stitched lines around it. The panel was then adhered to a dark blue card base and I jazzed it up by applying some Glossy Accents on the clouds.
Now that the card is completed, it is time for a dip in the lake! I will see you again on Day 4 (if I can stay out of trouble, that is)!
