Shaker Card + Links to Free Digital Stamps

Hello, hello! Hope you are having a good day. I came home feeling rather bummed out yesterday. Let’s just say nothing went as planned and that pretty much tipped me over the edge.

At times like this, I am more than ever grateful for my goldfish memory. I knew I had to do something that would take it off my mind and since I have just gotten a brand new set of Copic Ciao markers last Christmas, what better time than now to indulge in some therapeutic colouring session! The handsome donkey named Schorschi is a free digital stamp by Birka (link is down below). My laptop had not been behaving like he should but AirPrint came to my rescue! Never thought printing on a mobile phone could be so easy! I made sure to print it on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White so the Copic colouring would not bleed through the paper.

I coloured Schorschi with Copic in W1, W3, W5 and BV29 for the fur, and E93 and YR000 for the skin. I also used W7 and 100 for the hair, and W1 on the hooves. I added some dots on selected areas using 100 and a white gel pen as well as Glossy Accents by Ranger on the eyes for some additional dimension. I fussy-cut Schorschi and ran a black marker around the edge as with all my fussy-cut pieces.

For the background, I lightly traced the outline of the smallest die from the Pierced Square Frame Die-namics by My Favorite Things with a pencil on another piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, and applied Lucky Clover and Salty Ocean using a blending tool. To soften the vibrant colours, I simply sprinkled some water on it using a paintbrush. I attempted to emboss the pierced dots instead of die-cutting it using three layers of craft foams, although the result was not apparent. I cut out the square leaving about 1/8″ border around it using my old trusty pair of zig-zag scissors.

At this point, Schorschi’s nose called out to me and I thought it would make a great shaker card. I then positioned Schorschi on the square to determine where the shaker would be, and cut out the nose from the square to form the window. A piece of acetate, two layers of craft foam and a sprinkle of star-shaped sequins in various colours were used to create the shaker.

I stamped the sentiment from Ella & Friends by Mama Elephant using Versafine in Onyx Black on a card stock that matches the card base and trimmed it into a strip. I added heart-shaped brads at each side of the strip before securing it on my card. A simple bow in a green twine later and there you have it, a perfect pick-me-up shaker card!

I hope you like this card and hopefully it inspires you to create more.

Thanks for stopping by and see you soon!

Hugs, Michelle
