Inlay Die-cutting + Masking

Hello, hello! I had trouble going to sleep last night so guess what? Of course I had to make a card! My bedtime is almost all the time I have left for crafting nowadays so seize it I did!

[Supplies are linked at the bottom of the post.]

I recently caved and bought some stamps and dies from Mama Elephant and after a week of crafting drought, I was ecstatic to finally had time to play. To create a scene with a juggler puppy, I first stamped a ball from Playful Pups using VersaFine Ink in Onyx Black on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb. Next, I masked it off with some post-its before I stamped a puppy from the same stamp set and then continued stamping a few more balls. The colouring was done using Copic Markers. I then fussy cut and edged them with a Copic Marker in C7, which was the darkest colour in my collection. If you have not done this before, this is game-changing! To ground the puppy, I used Landscape Trio and blended in some distress ink in Mowed Lawn.

I then ran two card stocks in different shades of pink through my Sizzix Big Shot with Flower Circles Die by Waffle Flower. I removed both the circle centrepieces as well as the flower in light pink, and then inlaid the flower in dark pink into the negative of the light pink card stock. For the sentiment, I combined a few from the Happy Everything set to say “Sending You Happy Thoughts”. To accentuate the word “Happy”, I simply wrote over the original sentiment, slightly offset, with a Zig Writer Metallic Marker in silver.

I assembled the card, popping up the pink card stocks with double-sided foam tape. I used Glossy Accent to add highlighted dimension to the balls as well as the puppy’s nose. For the finishing touch, I simply adhered some clear sequins and beads.

Thank you for stopping by and see you soon!

Hugs, Michelle
